Well, it's now officially 2018. I'm still in shock- I swear it was only April of 2017 last month! 2017 was an absolute whirlwind of a year for myself and I've heard so many others say the same- did you find 2017 to be the same?
For the last few weeks I've seen so many blog posts and videos do the rounds on social media with content creators talking about the beauty trends that they want to "die" in 2018, so I thought I'd create my own list of 10 Beauty Trends That I'd Love To See Resurrected in 2018.
1. soft all over glow
Trends have predicted that the intense "disco ball" highlight that was all over Instagram in 2017, and as a bridal make-up artist I'm totally celebrating. Instead, we'll be seeing more of an all over glow, but still concentrated on the high points of the face.
2. COLOURFUL EYESHADOW
In 2017, we saw the return of pink and purple shadow, but I have a feeling in 2018 we'll be seeing a lot more colours- I'm predicting khaki and emerald tones.
3. subtle natural brows
2016 was the year of the "insta-brow", 2017 was the year of the feathered brow, the wavy brow, the squiggly brow and so many other crazy trends, but I'm hoping that 2018 will be the year of softly filled in brows with minimal product.
4. soft skin
We've seen the rise and fall of matte skin, and then in 2017 we saw the rise of dewy skin, but in 2018 I think we'll see the rise of soft, natural skin- that perfect harmony between matte and dewy.
5. natural lashes
In 2017 we saw the rise of thick, luscious lashes, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing the return of soft, fluttery lashes.
7. glossy lips
In 2017 matte lips and liquid lipsticks were everywhere, but with the style of the early 2000s coming back into fashion, it looks like 2018 will be the resurgence of glossy lips.
8. contouring with blush
Contour kits were all the rage in 2016 and 2017, but in 2018 I'm hoping we'll see more old-school contouring with cool-toned blushes rather than ashy powders.
9. bright lipstick
Over the last few years we've seen a rise in the popularity of nude lips, but in 2018 I think we'll be seeing much more bright lips- think corals, purples and fuschias.
10. confidence with make-up
With the rise of social media, so many have lost their confidence with make-up, and are afraid to rock anything other than neutrals. In 2018, I'm hoping to see so much more bold looks and colour, not just browns and neutrals, even if its just a pop of colour on the waterline.
